Google Chrome is a web browser available freely. It is developed by Google INC. In this article, I will help you to install Google Chrome on CentOS/RHEL 7 and Fedora 26-20

Setup Google YUM repository

Create a new file chrome.repo under directory /etc/yum.repos.d/

[[email protected] ~]# vim /etc/yum.repos.d/chrome.repo

Add following lines to your chrome.repo file

[chrome]
name=google-chrome
baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/$basearch
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub

Save the file by pressing :wq

 

Check Google Chrome Version Before Installation

[[email protected] ~]# yum info google-chrome-stable

Output
Google Chrome Linux Version

Install Google Chrome

To install google chrome use the following command

[[email protected] ~]# yum install google-chrome-stable

Output
Google chrome installed on Linux

Launch Google Chrome

Use these commands to start Google Chrome with a non-root account.

$ google-chrome

If you want to start the google chrome process in the background then use the following command

$ google-chrome &

Output
Google Chrome running in Linux

Uninstall Google Chrome

To Uninstall google chrome use the following command

[[email protected] ~]# yum remove google-chrome-stable
